Luxurious hotels started appearing in European cities as early as the 18th century, and staying in them was considered an honor even for the most demanding public. Among such hotels as the Astoria, the Europe and the Atlantic, hotels named the Ambassador became a popular place where the nobility liked staying. In the early 20th century these hotels were ranked among the best ones and became famous for their rich high life. The Ambassador Hotel is located in the historic center of St. Petersburg, a 7-minute walk away from Sadovaya (Sennaya Ploschad’) Underground Station. St. Isaac and St. Nicholas Cathedral, the Mariinsky Theatre, and the Yusupov Gardens are all in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and you can visit them while you take a walk.
The hotel building is a unique complex which combines an architectural monument of the 19th century and a modern building. An atrium plays the central role in the foot plan of the complex. A prominent architect A. Svistunov, who took part in recreation of the interiors of the 19th century palaces that used to belong to nobility in St. Petersburg, is the author of interior design of the state- rooms of the hotel. In the Ambassador Hotel, the architect, who followed the tradition of the Academy of Fine Arts, used the Russian interior design of the 19th century as a model and gave a new interpretation of well-known classics. The state-rooms of the hotel feature a large variety of elegant lamps, vases, paintings and stucco moldings designed in the Empire style and full of fascination and charm.
There are 255 comfortable rooms in the hotel, including the rooms of the following categories: Economy, Standard, Superior, Studio, Suite, as well as the Rimsky-Korsakov and Presidential Apartments. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, Internet access, a direct international and inter-city telephone line, interactive and satellite TV, a mini-bar and a safe.
The hotel has 255 air-conditioned rooms including 13 single rooms, 235 double rooms, 5 exquisite suites and luxurious Rimsky-Korsakov and Presidential apartments. All rooms are decorated in tranquil pastel shades with comfortable furniture upholstered in elegant fabrics and luxurious curtains. Restaurants & Bars
Restaurants of the Ambassador Hotel are remarkable for their elegant St. Petersburg style and top quality cuisine that keeps up traditions of the art of cookery.
The Ambassador Restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the glassed-in atrium designed in the classical style. In the middle of the restaurant there is a stage for musicians, which promises that the guests will be able to enjoy live music concerts organized by the hotel. We will be happy to arrange a celebration or a conference for you in the restaurant and offer a menu of your choice and some additional services.
The Lobby Bar is near the Ambassador Restaurant. It will be a perfect place for you to relax during conferences or after exercising in the fitness center.
In Le Vernissage panoramic restaurant with a beautiful view of the historical city center, you can try dishes prepared by the chef Valentin Komisin. Recipes of royal Russia, a special light menu and season novelties will be appreciated even by gourmets. The restaurant can be used for banquets for a large number of guests.
Not far from Le Vernissage, there is the Gallery Bar where one can sit back and watch sports broadcasts.
Opposite the central entrance to the hotel – at 2A Rimsky-Korsakov Avenue – there is a sports Beerezska bar. Here you can try classical European and exotic Japanese cuisine as well as enjoy various brands of dark and light beer while watching a sport match.
