Tourists visit Tver - the ancient Russian town 200 km to the north of Moscow on the road to St Petersbourg. Not far from Tver the Polish military cemetry is located.
In September 1939 according to the Molotov - Ribbentrop pact Soviet Union was invaded in Poland and Poland was “divided” between Germany and Soviet Uniona as a territory.
Many Polish captives were transferred to Soviet Union and got repressed . In Katin (near Smolensk) about 2000 poles were executed by soviet Bolshevik authorities.
But the bloodiest events happened around Tver. More then 6000 polish captives were concentrated in the concentration camp close to Ostashkov .
In spring 1940 Poles were top secretly executed in Tver and then buried in Mednoye cosentration camp close to more then 50000 nameless executed innocent Russians. Polaks were shot in the back of the head in the cellars of the Soviet secret service. Russian revolvers failed “the job” and the butchers started to use German Walter system specially imported from Germany.
In modern times the historical truth became public. Poles constructed a great Memorial in Mednoye. The names of all the victims are on the monument. Russian graves are still nameless.
Memorial in Mednoye is the striking material evidence of the crimes of Bolsheviks and Stalin. Also it proofs the truth about the beginning of the Second World War.
There is located an excellent memorial to the Russian soldier Vasilkovskiy on the road from Moscow to Tver. In 1941 he closed with his breast the shooting German machine gun and his company could continue the attack.
Tthere are very interesting museums and historic places in Tver.
There is the active catholic basilica In Tver. Getting of Memorial mess is possible
