Baikal Ice Magic
Baikal in winter is a different world. Five days on the deepest frozen lake on Earth. You walk on turquoise ice that seems to stretch forever — clear, surreal, almost alive. You find hidden caves and ice grottos, hear the quiet echo of ancient legends. Every step feels like a dream. Every view leaves you speechless. Winter Baikal is pure magic — and for five days, you are part of it.

Baikal Ice Magic
RIGHT NOW
Here's how it works.
Day 1
Meeting at the Irkutsk airport or railway station.
Transfer to the hotel. You can leave your luggage at the hotel’s storage room. Early check-in (before 2:00 PM) and breakfast are available at extra cost.
City tour of Irkutsk.
Irkutsk is one of the most beautiful cities in Siberia — a place where the old meets the new, where history and modernity, Europe and Asia intertwine. It is the gateway to the East and to the world’s deepest and purest lake — Lake Baikal.
During the excursion, you will visit the historical center with its wooden houses famous for ornate carvings, see main historical and architectural landmarks:
the Savior Church, Eternal Flame, Moscow Gate, Znamensky Convent, and the monument to Admiral Kolchak nearby. You will also see the mansions of famous Irkutsk merchants, Karl Marx Street, the Angara River embankment with the monument to Alexander III, and stroll through the “Irkutsk Sloboda” (130th Quarter) — a true gem of the city.
After the tour — hotel check-in and free time.
Overnight in Irkutsk.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel.
Excursion to Listvyanka Village (65 km from Irkutsk), located on the shore of Lake Baikal.
On the way — visit the open-air museum “Taltsy”, a unique architectural and ethnographic complex showcasing Siberian wooden architecture.
Upon arrival in Listvyanka, stop at the Shaman Stone, a sacred site at the source of the Angara River.
Then visit the Baikal Museum, famous for its aquarium exhibits — 11 large tanks featuring the Baikal seal (nerpa) and endemic species of fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and sponges.
Lunch at a restaurant overlooking the lake.
After lunch, take the chairlift to Chersky Stone Viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of Lake Baikal and the unfrozen mouth of the Angara River.
Visit the local fish and souvenir market. Hotel check-in and rest.
Optional activities (extra cost): snowmobile or dog-sled rides.
Overnight in Listvyanka.
Russia boasts the oldest and deepest lake on the planet — Lake Baikal in Siberia is the oldest and deepest lake on the planet! 25 million years young, 1 637 meters deep — and it stores 20 % of Earth’s unfrozen fresh water. That’s more than the five Great Lakes of North America together.

Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today you will travel from Listvyanka to Olkhon Island across the frozen Lake Baikal aboard a hovercraft (Khivus).
Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of crystal-clear ice and glittering hummocks. In the village of Bolshoe Goloustnoe, you’ll see the famous methane bubbles, and in Peschanaya Bay — the “stilted trees.”
Lunch on the way.
Your guide will share fascinating legends and stories about Lake Baikal. During stops, you’ll have time to take photos and admire the extraordinary beauty of the winter landscape — the ice ridges, pressure cracks, and transparent ice.
Upon arrival at Khuzhir village on Olkhon Island — hotel check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, depart for a jeep tour to Cape Khoboy, the northernmost point of Olkhon Island.
The excursion route goes either across the snow-covered island or directly over the ice of Lake Baikal. In winter, the ice thickness can reach up to 1.5 meters, making it perfectly safe to travel.
From the cape, you’ll see a panoramic view of the Great Baikal. It’s one of the best photo spots! On clear days, you can even see the opposite shore and the only peninsula on Baikal — the Holy Nose.
Locals consider Khoboy a sacred place. Many spiritual practitioners come here to meditate and feel Baikal’s energy. The Rock of Love, resembling the curves of a woman’s figure, is a popular site for making wishes or marriage proposals.
Lunch with Baikal fish will be served during the excursion.
Return to the hotel. Free time — you can rent ice skates or bicycles to explore the Baikal ice, or take a walk to Burkhan Cape (Shaman Rock) to watch the sunset.
Optional (extra cost): ice skating, bicycle rental, or a traditional Russian banya with a plunge into Baikal.
Dinner and overnight on Olkhon Island.
Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, travel across the ice crossing by UAZ vehicles back to the mainland, then continue by comfortable bus to Irkutsk.
On the way, stop for lunch at the Golden Horde Ethnopark, where you’ll experience the culture and cuisine of the Buryat people.
Take part in a master class on making “buuz” (traditional Buryat dumplings), once prepared for special celebrations and honored guests. Under the guidance of a professional chef, you’ll make and then taste your own dish.
Optional (extra cost): photo session in national costumes.
Upon arrival in Irkutsk — hotel check-in and free time.
Overnight in Irkutsk.
Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel.
At a certain time we meet you in the hotel lobby with a guide and transfer to the railway station or airport.
Your dedicated guide will be waiting in the hotel lobby to escort you to the railway station or airport. We understand the importance of a smooth transition and our team is committed to making your departure stress-free.
After the lunch you will enjoy a performance of traditional Tuvan throat singing called Khoomei. Throat singing is a fantastic skill of Tuvinians and some other nationalities of Siberia to produce two or three musical sounds of different heights simultaneously and at the same time to pull them for 25-30 seconds without taking a breath. If you listen with your eyes closed, you cannot believe that these sounds are made by a human and not by a musical instrument.
Throughout these six magical days, you’ve immersed yourself in the charming beauty of Lake Baikal and its surroundings, felt the genuine warmth of Siberian hospitality, and delved into the unique culture and traditions of this remarkable region.
From the sacred shores of Olkhon Island to the dramatic cliffs of Cape Khoboy, from the crystal-clear waters of the Small Sea to the ancient shamanic sites — every moment was a precious piece of a breathtaking puzzle that left an indelible mark on your heart.
We promise that the magic of Baikal, the kindness of its people, and the unforgettable experiences of these six days will stay with you, warming your heart every time you recall this extraordinary journey.
